Our value proposition to you

“Lawsons. The experience and benefits of a big firm with small firm attention”
Robert Lo, CA

Background

Lawsons’ principal and founder, Robert Lo, is a chartered accountant with over 30 years of experience. He gained his accounting qualifications in the UK and worked in London over a period of 8 years, several of which with a national firm of chartered accountants.

Robert started private practice in Melbourne in 1990 after a few years with another medium sized chartered firm in Melbourne.

After a stint as a partner in local firm, he founded Lawsons practice in Mount Waverley in 2000.

Large firm experience with small firm attention

Robert recognised that many smaller businesses are caught in a dilemma: they need the confidence of a big accounting firm but after paying premium fees find their businesses are not big enough to get the service levels and attention they need.

With this in mind Lawsons was set up to offer the experience and benefits of a big accounting firm with the dedicated attention by a small firm to businesses in the Monash area.

This has been very well received by Lawsons’ clients all of whom are long term clients.

People Technology and Focus

We run a small team and yet are able to deliver the benefits of a big firm to our clients with high personal service levels. We are able to do this because the following have been put in place right from the very beginning of the practice:

Investment in people

With Lawsons you will benefit first of all from a small but client focused team.

Members of our team are selected with qualifications in other disciplines in addition to accountancy and are graduates of Australia’s premier universities. In particular,

Huey Koon holds degrees in BCom (Accounting) and LLB (Hons) from the University of Melbourne.

Cissy holds degrees in M ProfAcc (Advanced) from Monash University and LLB (Maritime Law) from Dalian Maritime University, China.

Diane holds a degree in BCom (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Melbourne.

All of our senior accountants are full members of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand.

The secret of our highly valued client service lies in the continuous and passionate investment in our team members.

Robert is the chief mentor and coach to his team ensuring their skills, experience and professional requirements are fully developed and met. The practice values the development, continuous learning and growth of each of its team members giving an encouraging and conducive environment for work and learning.

This in turn translates into great service levels and attention to the needs of our clients.

Leveraging on technology

Lawsons at the start recognised that for a small practice to punch above its weight its people need to be supported by solid technology infrastructure and systems.

Over the years the practice has continually invested in making sure its technology platforms and hardware are kept abreast with new developments and applications.

This has enabled a small highly competent team of dedicated people to deliver high levels of service to clients quickly and cost efficiently.
